Corvus Energy has been selected by Norwegian maritime electronics firm Elmarin AS as the supplier of lithium-ion-based energy storage systems (ESS) for three new hybrid fishing vessels. The companys Orca Energy ESS will supply electrical power to the fishing vessels propulsion systems and electrical networks. Each vessels ESS will have a capacity of approximately 250kWh, which will be utilised during many aspects of the fishing vessel operations. The vessels are expected to be delivered in mid-2018. In these projects, we had the privilege to work closely with an enthusiastic ship owner who really wanted to make a difference, and together with several other competent partners we designed a complete solution for the vessels that meets all the requirements for this application, said Lars Eide, head of electric propulsion systems at Elmarin AS.
