Hydro Impulse is presenting its groundbreaking Hydro Impulse Sterndrive at Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo this year. Claimed to be the first major innovation in sterndrive technology in 30 years, this advanced marine propulsion system offers unparalleled efficiency, performance and design flexibility for boats, according to the company.
“Visitors to Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe can see the Hydro Impulse for the 11kW and 25kW outboards from E’dyn Marine,” explained Alois Bauer, managing partner at Hydro Impulse Systems.
“The Hydro Impulse reduces energy consumption by 20%, which means an increase in range of about 30%. Furthermore, with the 25kW we have a static thrust (bollard pull) of 240kg, which is the same as with a standard propeller for 60hp engines,” continued Bauer.
“For the first time here at the show in Amsterdam, we are presenting a sterndrive for 30kW to 50kW (65kW peak). It has all the advantages of the Hydro Impulse, as well as those relating to being a sterndrive. In addition, we have increased the maintenance intervals to 2,500 hours or one year.”
Boasting an impressive efficiency of approximately 80%, the Hydro Impulse Sterndrive is compatible with boats designed for sterndrive or outboard engines. The compact design of this revolutionary propulsion system not only significantly reduces energy consumption but also allows increased freedom of design in boat building.
Safety is carefully considered, as all moving parts are encased in a protective housing. Additionally, the Sterndrive provides reduced noise levels, smooth operation and precise steering capabilities, even in shallow water.
