The world’s leading exhibition and conference for maritime electrification, decarbonization and GHG reduction solutions is returning to Amsterdam in June 2024!
Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe
Exhibitors at the free-to-attend Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe will showcase new electric and hybrid marine transportation and propulsion solutions, shore charging equipment and efficient emerging technologies to help realize zero-emission shipping and net zero. Visitors will be able to browse and ask the experts on hand in-depth questions about the line-up of top technologies for the electrification and hybridization of workboats, ferries, superyachts and other marine vessels, plus port and harbor infrastructure.
Leading companies across the exhibition floor will include ABB, Corvus Energy, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Lehmann Marine, Twin Disc, The Switch Engineering Oy, Volta and Wärtsilä. The latest companies revealed to be at the show include Sealence, AVD Holland, CMD, YASA, Drive System Design, E2C Energy To Come, Ricardo, ARRK Engineering, AVL Schrick and Edorado. Early exhibitor news ahead of the event includes reveals carbon-free ammonia-to-electrical power systems, e-outboards; lithium-ion battery solutions, battery emulation, battery testing and fuel cell emulation solutions, hybrid systems, energy storage systems and hydrogen fuel cells, shore power solutions for tanker vessels and solid-state DC breakers.
At the expo, Torqeedo will display its comprehensive system toolkit including inboards, outboards and steerable thrusters up to 100kW, and the new Deep Blue Battery 80. Torqeedo’s Customized Solutions team has almost two decades of expertise and experience and can optimize the entire electrification process, from the planning phase with individual design consulting through installation to commissioning, all backed by a global service and support network. The company offers a range of proven, tested components, including electric motors, batteries, chargers, throttles, controls, displays, interfaces and onboard renewables that are fully integrated into its holistic propulsion and energy management infrastructure.
EST-Floattech will present its maritime battery system. The new Octopus Series has been designed to meet maritime needs, including fully electric and hybrid propulsion. Its modular and flexible design enables it to meet a wide range of mechanical and electrical requirements. It can be installed in virtually any vessel thanks to its modular construction, and is certified by DNV, Lloyd’s Register and Bureau Veritas.
Corvus Energy will showcase all its latest products at the expo, covering energy storage systems and hydrogen fuel cells, and the Dolphin Energy NxtGen. Leveraging the latest advances in marine battery energy storage technology and zero-emission solutions, the Dolphin Energy NxtGen is the newest ESS in the Corvus Energy family of products. It has a groundbreaking product architecture that allows for rack-free design and unlimited flexibility to help maximize the zero-emission operation of any vessel type. The Dolphin Energy NxtGen ESS has been designed for ships with long, slow charges and discharges where light weight is essential. It is suitable for hybrid electric and all-electric maritime applications including cruise ships and ferries, yachts, canal boats, tourist vessels and sightseeing vessels.
Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe Conference
Taking place alongside the exhibition is the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe Conference – the only international conference dedicated to the electrification and hybridization of marine vessels, along with the associated supporting infrastructure for ports, charging, fueling and energy supply.
With over 70 speakers and nine conference tracks, Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe Conference will enable attendees to discover the latest projects and trends from major shipowners and operators, classification societies and respected academics. It will also provide instant access to US maritime policymakers and funding opportunities, and the new technologies critical to saving fuel, improving efficiency and reducing emissions.
Among the esteemed specialists at the dedicated conference (rates apply) will be Elias Boletis, chair of the CIMAC Working Group 10. His presentation, titled ‘The challenges to shipowners in the decarbonization process, and the responsibilities of equipment manufacturers’, will unpick the questions that arise about the drivers of technological progress toward decarbonization in the marine sector. Are they pulled along by demand from shipowners or pushed forward by equipment manufacturers? What are the implications of each approach? Which would be best and should either do more of the same, less or something entirely different? Boletis is uniquely placed to provide insight into these questions. He is responsible for the CIMAC Working Group 10 end users (primarily shipowners) and provides a link between the shipowners and the equipment manufacturers for the marine sector.
Chloe Fisher, project manager at SEA-KIT International, and John Dillon-Leetch, port hydrographer at Port of London Authority, will give a talk titled ‘Project ZEPHR – Zero-Emission Ports Hydrogen Refuelling’. The consortium partners will describe the project, which is funded through the UK government’s ZEVI (Zero Emission Vessel and Infrastructure) competition. The project encompasses the design, manufacture and operation of a green-hydrogen-fueled uncrewed surface vessel (USV), to be operated on the River Thames in London, and includes local green hydrogen production and storage.
Jan Egbertsen, manager of strategy and innovation at the Port of Amsterdam, will present ‘Clean shipping strategies and vision of the Port of Amsterdam’. This presentation will outline the strategy and vision of a port authority in the development of clean shipping, and ask what role a port authority can play. Relevant topics are OPS, the development of bunker facilities for bio- and e-fuels, and how a port authority can get its own fleet to zero emissions.

Electric & Hybrid Marine Awards 2024
Additionally, the winners of this year’s Electric & Hybrid Marine Awards will be revealed at the exhibitor hall party on June 18, at Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe 2024 in Amsterdam. Following the expansion of the categories in 2023, the 2024 awards retain a strong focus on environmentally conscious technologies and initiatives, as well as new advances in charging, hydrogen and shoreside technologies. The awards are decided by the votes of a panel of expert journalists and consultants from the marine industry. Find out more about those shortlisted here.
