Under a new 10-year lease with parent company CMA CGM, CEVA Logistics will operate four of Eastern Pacific Shipping’s LNG dual-fuel hybrid roll-on roll-off vessels, enabling it to transport an estimated 140,000 vehicles each year between global markets, particularly China and Europe.
The deep-sea ro-ro ships are being built by the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Weihai, China, with the first vessel expected to be delivered in December 2023, followed by the other three in 2024.
Each vessel will benefit from dual-fuel engines and a hybrid power system with LNG and electric battery capabilities, enabling the nearly 200m-long vessel to move at a maximum speed of 19.5kts. The new-builds will have the capacity to carry up to 7,000 vehicles over the near 59,000m2 of deck surface spread over 12 levels.
Under the lease agreement, CEVA Logistics will manage and operate the dual-fuel vessels with full commercial control over the ro-ro capacity.
