Echandia, a developer of heavy-duty energy storage solutions for maritime applications, has announced that it has received an initial order for battery systems to be used in a highly specialized naval sector.
The €5m (US$5.4m) order was placed by a major system supplier within the maritime industry and marks the first time Echandia has provided its products for military application.
With the defense industry beginning a transition toward renewable energy sources (much like the shipping and transport sectors), vessel energy efficiency needs to be increased by using solutions that meet current maritime rules and requirements while being durable and safe with a long lifecycle.
“Echandia is proud to announce this first order in the naval market segment,” commented Magnus Eriksson, CEO of Echandia. “Our solutions are especially suitable in these extreme heavy-duty applications and can ensure safety and performance while reducing the environmental impact. We consider this order a seal of quality for our technology.”
