A green package supply agreement has been signed by TECO 2030 and Pherousa Green Shipping (PGS) for fitting up to six, 63,000 DWT zero-emission Ultramax dry bulk carriers with 12MW of TECO 2030 fuel cells for main propulsion.
The supply package – worth approximately €23m (US$25m) per carrier – consists of a complete system of fuel cells installed on a skid solution, in addition to power and automation equipment. TECO 2030 is expected to begin shipping the equipment to the chosen shipyard in early 2026, ahead of a delivery date set for the middle of 2026. The fuel cell system will be produced at the end of 2024 at TECO 2030’s Innovation Center in Narvik, Norway.
The 12MW fuel cell system will enable each of the six vessels to operate completely emission-free. TECO 2030’s fuel cells will be partnered with a Pherousa Green Technologies PGT) ammonia-to-hydrogen cracker. This combination will enable the vessel to begin using ammonia and transition to hydrogen whenever desired.
The first vessel is estimated to be delivered in the first quarter of 2027.
